Have you ever used a garden designer, or if not, would you employ one? Would you be willing to share your thoughts in a survey? The question of using a garden designer might not be one that you have ever asked yourself. Or else it might be on your mind every time you catch sight…

About

My name is Joanna, and I am an English gardener, writer, photographer and blogger in Scotland. Follow me as I renovate the gardens belonging to my traditional Edinburgh tenement flat. From growing cut flowers and creating beautiful pots, window-boxes and flower borders, to building paths, terraces and even a maze, I hope you find plenty of garden inspiration on these pages.

A carefully packaged gift has arrived, an early birthday present to myself. Thank you @cornoviumsnowdrops for the prompt and safe delivery of beautiful 'Primrose Warburg'. I have been hankering after this snowdrop ever since I first saw it at Shepherd House, Inveresk two years ago. #galanthophiliastrikes . . . #beautyinsimplicity #galanthusprimrosewarburg #tostandandstare #botanicaldreamers #aquietbeauty #myfloralmonth #mymomentwithflowers #thebotanicalseries #allthebeautifulthings #flowersandotherstories #aflowerenthusiast #seasonspoetry #ukpetalwatch #poetryofsimplethings #thatwinterspringthing #snowdrops #oneperfectthing #flowerslovethedark #astilllifestyle #floralstories #gardenersofinstagram #calm_collected #alifeofintention #stillswithstories
An outdoor café table in Lisbon at New Year ... sipping our cafezinhos under a joyful sky. Overhead, the most graceful street trees like rowans, but much taller and with golden green berries rather than red. Surely a Sorbus, but I'm wondering if @krissmacd might know which one? . . . #beautyinsimplicity #tostandandstare #aseasonalyear #eleganceintheeveryday #thebeautyinwinter #awakethesoul #great_wide_somewhere #treestagram #smallpauses #lifeunscripted #distractionsandinspirations #inspiredbynature_ #simplenaturefinds #simplepleasures #thesimpleeveryday #seekthesimplicity #beautyaroundus #the_gentle_manifesto #aquietbeauty #myseasonaljournal #allthingsbotanical #daysofsmallthings #alittlebeautyeveryday #botanicalpickmeup #beautyintheeveryday
I MAY have just ordered myself a birthday present of the botanical variety, and it MAY be very small and white and frivolously expensive. And it will probably be eaten by squirrels, but what the heck. . Meanwhile, here are some I managed to snap while being hastened through the Botanics by our Plant Recognition chap on the way to viewing a very important Abies koreana. . . . #galanthophiliastrikes #thinkofthestarvingpeople #winterstories #whimsicalwonderfulwild #beautyinsimplicity #aprettyishkindof_wilderness #tostandandstare #aquietplace #aseasonalyear #seasonspoetry #gloomandglow #poetryofsimplethings #thebeautyinwinter #eleganceintheeveryday #realflowersoftheseason #allthebeautifulthings #wildaboutflowers #ukpetalwatch #snowdrops #thebotanicalseries #thatwinterspringthing #gardenlove #botanicaldaydreams #myfloralmonth #aflowerenthusiast #floralcrush #pursuepretty #woodlandwonders #flowersandotherstories #mymomentwithflowers
A glimmer of winter sunshine for everyone on this torrentially rainy Friday. When I arrived at work saturated, and spent 10 mins in the loo mopping rainwater off my clothes with paper towels (anyone else?), I remembered how much the groundwater and the trees need and appreciate rainy days like these after such a long dry summer. So happy Friday trees, I hope you enjoy getting your roots nice and wet :o) . . . #aseasonalyear #tostandandstare #beautyinsimplicity #aprettyishkindof_wilderness #awakethesoul #seasonspoetry #whimsicalwonderfulwild #thequietwinter #poetryofsimplethings #beautyofstillmoments #aquietplace #gloomandglow #ofquietmoments #chasinglight #thebeautyinwinter #hazyshadesofwinter #keepitwild #treestagram #great_wide_somewhere #lovelywanderings #mycountrysidetonic #letshavespring #quietinthewild
An inky black Lenten rose ... The flowers can be hard to spot against dark bare earth, but in the snow they come into their own. . . . #smallpauses #aslowmoment #allthebeautifulthings #capturequiet #smallmomentsofcalm #oneperfectthing #gloomandglow #lifeunscripted #soulful_moments #awakethelight #beautyinsimplicity #slowsimpleseasonal #wildgardenstyle #tostandandstare #aquietplace #eleganceintheeveryday #thequietwinter #ataleofwinter #thebeautyinwinter #aprettyishkindof_wilderness #realflowersoftheseason #inmygardentoday #wildaboutflowers #seasonspoetry
